Playful 3D

There's a particular magic to 3D work that doesn't take itself too seriously. These pieces embrace the medium's ability to create worlds that feel both impossible and inviting—bubbly plasma donations, topographic faces, wizards made of digital clay. They remind us that technology is at its best when it makes us smile.

Rise Plasma Bubbles

Rise Plasma Bubbles

by Rise Plasma

Making plasma donation look this friendly is a real design challenge, and they nailed it. These bubbly 3D torus shapes floating against that serene blue sky feel almost toy-like—the golden yellow orbs inside the translucent bubbles are so satisfying. It's medical meets playful, scientific meets approachable. Great way to visualize something abstract like plasma.

Psychedelic Faces

by TAVO Studio

Layered topographic faces from TAVO Studio. Each layer has that fuzzy felt-like texture, rainbow contours following the shape of the face... like a 3D-printed portrait made of stacked paint-by-numbers. That pastel purple and coral palette works beautifully.

Whimsical Wizard

by Amino

This little guy looks like he was molded out of the most expensive Play-Doh money can buy. Clay-like texture, rosy cheeks, oversized wizard hat with moon and stars. Cozy RPG character select screen. The twisted wooden staff with that glowing orb at the top—every detail feels touchable.

Ducky Dither

by Pablo Stanley

Shameless self-promotion but I built this dithering shader tool called Efecto and I'm lowkey obsessed with it. The way the dither pattern catches the light on this rubber duck... there's something deeply satisfying about reducing smooth 3D renders to these crunchy pixel patterns. Retro computing aesthetics meet modern WebGL. It's the visual equivalent of vinyl crackle.

Efecto Lighthouse

by Pablo Stanley

Okay yeah this is my own thing, but I'm genuinely obsessed with dithering and ASCII aesthetics right now. There's something about reducing 3D renders to these chunky, pixelated forms that feels both retro and futuristic. The chromatic aberration, the glow—it's like your graphics card is having a beautiful nightmare.

Microsoft 50th Anniversary

by Koto

Koto's work for Microsoft's 50th anniversary is pure nostalgia fuel. That pixelated '50' with the neon glow, rendered in 3D but feeling very 8-bit... it's the perfect bridge between where Microsoft started and where it is now. The rainbow color palette against that warm, toy-scattered background gives it this celebratory, almost birthday party energy. World-class agency work.
